Kita Keus (1994), material designer and researcher with an affinity for colour and texture

Kita’s upbringing was in a small Frisian town surrounded by flat green lands and high colourful skies. This place allowed her to get into nature at any given moment. Her family stimulated a curiosity by naming the types of plants, flowers and butterflies. One of her first words was actually ‘Atalanta’, a type of butterfly.

This has made her into an observant designer who appreciates the quiet and subtleties in our surroundings. She has a sensitivity for colours and textures which she intuitively applies in her work.

Kita believes design can enrich spaces by paying attention to the details. The materials, colours, and shapes together form an environment that should softly stimulate the senses to create a pleasant surrounding with opportunities to wonder and wander.
